I am from Ohio and go to the Gulf fishing every summer.  I met Ben as a young deckhand on a boat with a captain my husband and I chartered for an offshore trip.  We were so impressed with Ben we started requesting him to be on all our trips.  Though we didn't much like the captain, we liked Ben.  He's a doer and a people person.  He knows how to read people and put them on a level they can fish at, or the level they need to be at for a challenge.  We have 2 20ft boats, 1 lake and 1 bass, so we know how to fish, just not offshore.  Ben saw that and didn't need to be told anything.  Every time he put us on fish, was there to tend gear, fix any issues, and make every trip a great experience with fish in the box.  He never once treated me like a girly girl and helped me out fish men!  I still have the video!  We followed him over the years to other boats he worked on and refused to go on a charter without him.  When we found out he got his Captain's Liscence I thought there wasn't a more deserving soul.  If you fish with Ben, you will see the pure love he has with what he does.  He's respectful, puts you on the fish, and makes your trip an experience you won't forget!  I can't say enough of what a fine and capable young man he is.  He worked hard to get there and continues to work hard because in my opinion he loves what he does and wants to share that gift with his clients!

Capt Ben is not only a professional and competent captain, he's a seasoned and knowledgeable fisherman that understands and respects the fisheries resources of the Mississippi Sound and Gulf of Mexico.  On many occasions he actively participated in federal fisheries management discussions at both the local and national levels.  He worked closely with us at the Gulf Coast Research Lab to engage in community outreach, and helped facilitate the collection of much needed samples for fisheries research. One of the things we love about Ben is that he brings a unique ecologically based ideology to the Mississippi fishing fleet, and his love for the  Mississippi coast doesn't just stop at the water.  As the owners of Thalassas, we support the community by organizing beach cleanups and trash recycling programs.  Ben has always been so incredibly supportive of these efforts, and has attended every single clean up we've organized since we launched in 2021.  Once you fish with him, you'll know why year after year so many choose to spend their time on the water with Capt Ben!!

I have been fishing with Capt. Ben for many years. He is extremely knowledgeable about spot locations and how to put anglers on fish.
