MEET THE CAPTAIN

CAPTAIN BEN ALLEN

Captain Ben Allen has fished the Mississippi Gulf Coast from a young age. As a child and teenager, he spent many days fishing the bays and barrier islands with his father, grandfathers, brothers, and cousins.

Fishing was his hobby, so it was only natural when the opportunity arose to join the charter fleet for him to jump at the chance to polish his skills. Captain Ben worked with several operations over the last 15 years.

After working as a deckhand for a couple of seasons with Captain Bill Mcdonnel, renowned as one of the best, if not the best, bottom/shark fisherman on the MS coast, he got his captain’s license. He started captaining a 24’ Mako for Captain Bill, targeting the species our bays and barrier islands have to offer. In time, the opportunity would arise to work with Silver Dollar Charters and tutor under Captain Jay D. Trochesset and Captain Dustin Trochesset as their first mate on the Silver Dollar 3.

In operation since 1972 and with Captain Jay boasting IGFA Hall of Fame status, your captain learned for many years under a fishing legend, offering him invaluable knowledge and experience targeting redfish, sharks, cobia, red snapper, king mackerel, and many other species offshore of the MS Gulf Coast.

Captain Ben then joined the Biloxi Bluewater Charters team with Captain Jerry McClure captaining and working the deck of a 37ft topaz where, in addition to the traditional island and red snapper fishing offered, he also got to target true pelagic species offshore in blue-water such as yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and mahi-mahi.

As the new owner of High Times Fishing Charters, courtesy of Captain Craig Gusa’s retirement, who is a Biloxi fishing legend in his own right, having operated High Times Charters since 1983, Captain Ben Allen is very excited to be able to share his experience and continue and grow the legacy of fun days at sea aboard the High Times, too.
